Home Inventory: privacy policy

Last updated: November 5, 2026.

This policy covers the Android app Home Inventory (Inventario in Italian, package dev.baldarn.inventario), developed by Lorenzo Farnararo.

In short

The app does not collect, transmit or sell any personal data. It has no account, does not use the internet, and contains no ads, analytics or third-party libraries that track you.

Data handled on your device

The app stores only on your phone:

  • the items you add: name, room, category, brand, model, serial number, purchase date and store, price, warranty length and any notes;
  • the photos attached to items (receipts, item photos, manuals and others);
  • the app preferences: whether warranty reminders are on and how far in advance, default warranty, currency, theme.

The app never sends this data off your device. The developer has no access to it in any way.

Photos

You take photos with your phone’s camera app or pick them with Android’s photo picker. The app keeps a resized copy in its own internal storage, which other apps cannot access; the copy does not contain the original photo’s metadata, such as location. A photo taken for the app is saved straight into its storage, and the temporary file is deleted right after the copy is made. Original photos picked from your gallery stay where they are and the app does not change them.

A photo only leaves the app if you choose to share it with another app or include it in a backup.

Export and backup

If you choose to export your inventory to a CSV file or create a ZIP backup (items, photos and settings), the file is saved where you decide. From then on it is handled by you and by whatever service you use to keep it. You can also restore a backup by picking the file to open yourself.

The app is excluded from Android’s automatic backup to Google Drive: neither your items nor your photos are uploaded to the cloud. Data is only copied if you transfer everything directly from one phone to another (cable or direct connection) while setting up a new device. The developer never receives this data.

Permissions

  • Notifications: to tell you before a warranty expires. You can deny or revoke it at any time.
  • Run at startup: to reschedule the warranty check after the phone restarts.

The app does not request internet, location, contacts, microphone or file access. It does not request the camera permission or access to your gallery either: photos are taken by the system camera app, and Android’s photo picker only gives the app the images you choose.

Deleting your data

You can delete all data by uninstalling the app, or from Android settings under the app’s Storage with “Clear data”. You can also delete individual photos in the app, or an item together with all its photos.

Children

The app is not intended for people under 18.

Changes

If the app changes how it handles data, this page will be updated before the new version is released.
